Skull of "Jeff," the Megalonyx

"Jeff," the giant ground sloth skeleton in the Orton Geological Museum, continues to inspire awe among museum visitors and curiosity from scientists. With support from the Battelle Engineering, Technology and Human Affairs (BETHA) endowment, we have been able to expand studies on this historic skeleton. New, updated signage, reflecting recent discoveries on this and other fossils of the same species, Megalonyx jeffersonii, has been added to the exhibited skeleton. Articles describing recent findings related to this skeleton, and its place in scientific and cultural history, have appeared in various publications. Here is a sampling of what's new with Jeff:
