Do you need to have a rock, mineral, or fossil identified by one of our experts? 

In some instances, specimens can be identified from good photos submitted online. The photos must be in focus, from multiple angles, and with some indication of scale of the object. Photos showing the whole object, and one or more closeups, are ideal. Please provide information about where each specimen was collected.

Commonly, we need to see and/or test a specimen (with non-destructive methods) before rendering an identification. If you would like to have us see your specimen, please make an appointment (614-292-9688) at least one day in advance.
