The skeleton of the giant theropod dinosaur Cryolophosaurus that stands in Orton Hall, a cast of the original with some reconstruction, was installed on September 18, 2018. The acquisition of this magnificent display was made possible through the help of many individuals who gave freely and generously of their time, talent, and resources. On September 18, 2023, we are celebrating the five-year anniversary of the arrival of our dinosaur on campus, and we want to take this opportunity to extend a warm, heartfelt "thank you" to everyone who helped make this exhibit a reality! Many of these people are listed below, but some have chosen to remain anonymous.
Dale Gnidovec, who has served as the Curator of the Orton Museum for many years, and for most people is the real "face" of the museum, was the driving force behind this important project. The skeleton that he and so many others worked to bring to campus is now one of the most impactful teaching and outreach tools on the university campus.
