Celebrating Ohio State's dinosaur - 5 years!

Cryolophosaurus anterior

The imposing skeleton of the great Jurassic theropod dinosaur Cryolophosaurus from Antarctica was installed in the atrium of Orton Hall five years ago, and we're celebrating this milestone! Come join us at the Orton Geological Museum on Monday, September 18, 2023, 12:00 noon-5:30 pm for a little anniversary celebration!

This is an inclusive, family-friendly event, with dinosaur cookies for all. The Museum is staying open after school recess time to accommodate families with kids.

We will have genuine dinosaur fossils for people to see and touch. Also on display will be some of the other types of remarkable fossils found in Antarctica!

Come join us for a few fun-filled and educational hours!

This occasion also gives us an opportunity to thank the many people who helped bring this dinosaur to The Ohio State University!

* This year Orton Hall, home to Ohio's first museum, turns 130!  Next year, 1874, will mark the 150th anniversary of the Orton Geological Museum. The museum originally was located in University Hall, but moved to its permanent home in Orton Hall upon completion of this spectacular, and now historic, building, in 1893.
